Monitoring consumptions per device and per zone over a given period of time is an important step in the analysis of a building.

Energy metering constitutes an initial inescapable step to reduce energy expenses efficiently. Prior to dealing with the question of regulation, it is essential to analyse the building and to identify the areas of high energy consumption. Energy metering helps to measure and record values in order to analyse them later and carry out the load shedding.

The main metering encountered is as follows:

• Water consumption
• Electrical consumption
• Consumption of gas
• Consumption of calories

The metering card developed by WIRECOM Technologies which is placed on the meters, in the electrical cabinet or the TGBT (low voltage switchboard) of the building, has been designed to carry out the following functions:

• Controlling the consumption of equipment and of its duration of functioning during a given period (day, week, month, year);
• Zone metering (Ex.: by apartment, by workspace or by floor);
• Warning in case of exceeding consumption depending on for example the tariff plan subscribed to: if the threshold is exceeded, a relay of load shedding helps to reduce consumption of non priority areas (ex.: washrooms, external lighting, etc.).
